Dear Fellow FOP member,

 

My name is Joe Ramirez and I am the newly elected State Lodge Chaplain.  As the FOP chaplain, it is my sad duty to share the news of a local officer’s death.  On July 21^st 2006 Officer Ruben Rivera of the Caldwell Police department took his own life.  Sadly his wife, Karie, who is a dispatcher with the Canyon County Sherriff’s office was working at the time and took the shots fired call for her home.  Karie Rivera is an FOP member of Lodge 29.  The family has asked that we not send flowers or other sympathy tokens.  They are asking that if someone wants to show their support, they do so monetarily.  Due to the circumstances, they are going to be burdened with some financial issues.
