SMITH & WESSON RACING ANNOUNCES TRIBUTE PROGRAM
FOR POLICE HEROES
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (September 21, 2005) . Smith & Wesson Corp.
[AMEX:SWB], the legendary, 153-year-old global provider of products and
services for safety, security, protection and sport, will partner with the
Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) to pay tribute to America.s law enforcement
heroes. The national recognition program will launch at the NASCAR Busch
Series races at Texas Motor Speedway and Phoenix International Raceway
during the first two weekends of November 2005.
Working in conjunction with the FOP Lodge in each state, the FOP.s Grand
Lodge national headquarters will nominate a law enforcement .Hero. from
each state. From this group, two individuals will be selected for national
recognition in the Smith & Wesson Tribute Program to be held at NASCAR
events in Texas (Nov. 5) and Phoenix (Nov. 12). Both National Heroes will
serve as honorary crew chiefs for the #30 Smith & Wesson NASCAR Busch
Series Chevrolet team of SKI Motorsports at Texas and Phoenix. The national
heroes will appear at local area events prior to the races, and will join
numerous FOP guests in the Smith & Wesson VIP venue.
The #30 Smith & Wesson Chevrolet, driven by two-time NASCAR Craftsman
Truck Series champion Ron Hornaday, will sport a unique .black and white.
law enforcement paint scheme at Texas and Phoenix, featuring the FOP logo
on the deck lid.
Commemorative racing merchandise honoring .American Heroes. and
featuring the FOP logo on the .black and white. racecar will be available in
conjunction with the special recognition program. A portion of the proceeds
of these merchandise sales.which include t-shirts, hats and scale replicas of
the race car.will be donated by Smith & Wesson Racing to the FOP
Foundation. Items are available now at the Smith & Wesson Racing trackside
trailer at NASCAR events, at selected collector.s shops and sporting goods
stores nationwide, at www.smith-wesson-racing.com in the Smith & Wesson
Racing Store, and the QVC shopping network.
